Alex Struc

Mr Struc is a fixed income investor and a portfolio manager with a deep expertise across credit assets. Over 14 years at PIMCO he has managed credit and the firmwide exposure in financials across the capital structure, including the book of contingent convertibles, and the world largest bank capital fund; $9bn at its peak in late 2017. 

As head of ESG Portfolio Management, he was also responsible for taking ESG from a minor specialism to a systemically applied, integrated firmwide platform, where he launched and managed dedicated ESG portfolios. In his earlier years, between 2003 and 2007, he built the firm’s European bank loan business and positioned PIMCO as a liquidity provider in that space by introducing relative value trading to this seemingly illiquid asset class.

Mr Struc is known as an innovator in ESG and impact investing. He designed and scaled up the dedicated bondholder engagement, critical feature of the firm’s ESG strategies, and chaired PRI bondholder engagement committee in 2017. Mr Struc originated innovative and liquid SDG bonds, which built on the Green Bond Principles to extend financing to all 17 Sustainable Development Goals. 

His work on liquid impact investing, deep expertise in financial markets, and a strong belief in the power of scalable frameworks to outperform and foster positive change drove him to found GoalsFirst with a single vision of unlocking the full value of finance for change.
