Anita Karppi is Senior Director, Buy-side, Market Practice & Regulatory Policy at ICMA (International Capital Market Association), where she leads ICMA's international buy-side strategy across asset managers, private markets, private banks, hedge funds, sovereign wealth funds and pension providers. Based in London, she works closely with senior market participants, policymakers and market infrastructure providers on the structural trends shaping global capital markets, including private credit, market structure, digitalisation, innovation and the evolving role of institutional investors. With more than 25 years of experience in global financial markets, Anita is a recognised industry leader whose expertise spans asset management, private markets, financial technology, market structure, strategy, corporate governance, business transformation and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining ICMA, she held senior leadership positions at Rothschild's Five Arrows, eToro, Market Structure Partners, FlexTrade Systems and Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where she worked across international markets and investment businesses. She is also the founder of the Buy-Side Trading Community, a global network of senior trading and investment professionals. Anita is a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD) and holds the IoD Certificate in Company Direction. She holds a BA (Hons) degree and has completed executive education at Cambridge Judge Business School in Digital Disruption and Digital Transformation Strategies. She is a board adviser, conference speaker and recognised thought leader on buy-side market structure, private markets, trading innovation and capital markets development.
